Pretty Procida is the smallest, and certainly the quietest, of the three islands off the coast of Naples – a mere four square miles, with a relatively dense population of 10,000 people. It was the chosen film location for Michael Radford’s film Il Postino (1994), and you can still visit the little café where some of it was filmed. Anthony Minghella’s film version of Patricia Highsmith’s psychological thriller, The Talented Mr Ripley (1999), was also filmed here.
Beautiful beaches, little fishing villages, some great restaurants and hotels are all a short ferry ride from Naples. Procida lemons are famous – you can visit a lemon grove where you learn how to make limoncello and delicious Procida lemon salad (not as unlikely as it might sound).
