Amalfi Coast

Nightlife on the Amalfi Coast could obviously never compare with that of London or Paris, nor does it try; the towns are small and, come nightfall, evenings out will mostly be confined to eating and drinking excellent food and wine.

But if your passion is classical music…

Ravello’s Concert Society holds classical concerts from March through to November and the Ravello Festival (www.ravellofestival.com) runs from June to September.

Sorrento also has a music festival, the Incontri Musicali Sorrentini, though it’s notoriously difficult to find any hard and fast dates and times. Keep checking the websites (www.sorrentoinfo.com or www.incampania.com) up until the moment you get on the plane.

Ischia’s summer concerts, held at La Mortella, are very popular, and there is a host of art, film and music events at Capri’s enchanting Villa San Michele.

Watch out for festivals and events throughout the year, such as Ischia‘s fabulous Festa di Sant’Anna, which takes place on July 26 and features torchlit boats sailing around the Ischia Ponte. For more events in Ischia, see here.

Sorrento also celebrates the Festa di Sant’Anna with a week-long celebration of food, drink and fireworks on the Marina Grande.
